Yaa Konadu “Odehe” Akuaku

Founder and Board Chair

Yaa Konadu “Odehe” Akuaku is the Founder and Board Chair of The Oikodome, a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring, bridging, and edifying churches and Christian communities by addressing generational, ethnic, and cultural gaps through education, dialogue, and partnership.

Born in Ghana and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Odehe has been rooted in the church from a young age. While attending college away from her home church, she came to own her faith personally and became more aware of the divisions and gaps present within the Church. These experiences shaped her calling to help strengthen the Body of Christ through intentional bridge-building.

Odehe brings over a decade of ministry experience, having served as a Sunday school teacher and currently serving as a leader in young adult ministry, worship, and her church’s African ministry. Through these roles, she has developed a deep understanding of the relational and cultural challenges churches face.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Howard University and is currently pursuing an MBA alongside an MS in Biotechnology at Johns Hopkins University. Professionally, she works within the biotechnology industry and has experience mentoring young women and supporting intergenerational development.

The Oikodome was founded in response to the disconnection Odehe witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many churches, families, and individuals were shaken. Guided by prayer and a deep sense of God’s leading, Odehe founded The Oikodome to help churches address gaps with courage and compassion, building unity rooted in biblical edification.
